About Mike Owens

Greetings!

My name is Mike and I am excited about your upcoming wedding. In an era when people tend to skip or gloss over important elements of life, it is wonderful you have decided to celebrate your love for each other. I would be honored to help you.

As a minister in a very ecumenical tradition, I have performed hundreds of weddings in every kind of setting and culture you can imagine.

I have been in Colorado since 1982, having migrated from the great state of Indiana. I was first introduced to Colorado on a family vacation when I was little and knew then I would eventually live here. I can't imagine living anywhere else. My wife, Gail, and I split our time between Denver and Estes Park.

After graduating with my degree in Theology, I served churches in Pennsylvania, Indiana and finally, Colorado. I was ordained in the American Baptist Church, but served virtually all my career in the International Council of Community Churches. The first wedding I performed after ordination was for my sister. I still remember how nervous we all were!

Beyond my work in the church, I have pursued a number of interests. I am a licensed pilot, a ventriloquist and avid photographer. I have served as a firefighter, paramedic and fire chief in 3 different states. It has been quite a busy life so far.

Through it all I have tried to live by the following philosophy:

In non-essentials, Liberty
And in all things, Love

Nothing is more important than that wonderful love that binds people together. Wherever we find it, we owe it to ourselves to celebrate it.
