Allow me to introduce myself and tell you what has led me to becoming one of the few, the proud, the Irreverent Reverends. Your marriage is important to me, too. You should know a bit about the person who will stand there with the two of you.
My birthplace is extreme upstate New York, where my father patrolled the border. An opportunity arose here, so he moved my mother, two older sisters and me in a VW Squareback across the country to the base of the Continental Divide.
The Front Range has been my home for nearly forty years now. I grew up in the shadow of Coors Brewery when Golden was still smallish. In the summertime, when the windows were open, I would wake up to the sound of a dusty old rooster crowing at dawn from the neighbor's coop down the road. It's the town I leaned how to ride a bike and drive a car. I have many fond memories of my upbringing here, and am creating many more as my wife and I raise our family in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
When I am not forging unions for loving couples, I am a voiceover artist and play bass in a handful of groups in the area. Other titles my life has afforded me include husband, father, and home brewer. I love the fact that Colorado has one of the highest concentrations of microbreweries in the nation. I have always felt that brewing is part chemistry, part mystery - much like a lifelong relationship. There's a recipe to follow, but also a certain amount of chance. It's a matter of managing what you can, respecting and learning from that which you can't. These are also some of the lessons that my own marriage has taught me.
My wife Lisa and I have two fantastic daughters, whom we adore. We also have a dog and two cats, all of which are female, leaving yours truly as the only representative of the "Y" chromosome in our home - unless you count the fish, which I'm told is a boy. Either way, the fish adds very little leverage to my vote. Fortunately, I realized a long time ago that where I'm outgunned in estrogen I am more than compensated in love and adoration from all of my girls.
I look forward to being a part of this occasion with you, and am dedicated to making it an event that says something about you and your commitment to one another. May your life be enriched and rewarded by this decision you are making and the ceremony we plan together.
